The Carer Centre Clubhouse full range of clubs, courses, groups and events which are free to Carers who are registered with us.
The Carer Clubhouse is situated at Fishwick House, Cotham Street, WA10 1SJ and can be found opposite from St Helens Town Hall.

Many of our events need a pre booking, if this is the case you can book on by pressing the button below each event and we will confirm your place within a few days. Sometimes we have last minute cancellations, so you can always telephone us on the day to see if there is a place available.

Wellbeing Workshop with Adult Community Learning - Wednesday 21st January 2026: 10am – 12 Noon
This awareness workshop is suitable for anyone who would like an understanding of ways to wellbeing and how it can enhance daily life. You will learn about the five ways to wellbeing, simple things we can all do to help support your mental wellbeing. Whether you're looking to connect with others, try something new, or take time for yourself, this workshop is a great place to start. At the end of the session, you will have gained awareness of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and how these can help to improve your confidence, resilience, and wellbeing.

Tai Chi - Wednesday 21st January 2026: 1pm – 3pm
An introduction to Tai-Chi with a practical demonstration from our Qualified Tutor, Heather. This can be done either sitting or standing and will end with a warm down. Casual clothing should be worn for this session.

Cost Of Living Workshop - Thursday 22nd January 2026: 10am – 12 Noon
This cost-of-living workshop will deal with where to find support, monthly budget planning, maximising your income and dealing with debt in confidence while planning for the unexpected and putting down financial foundations. It is being delivered by a team from NatWest Bank however you do not need to be a NatWest customer to attend. They will be on hand to help and assist you with what they can do during this time of financial uncertainty.

Time For You with Tracey Friday 23rd January 2026: 10am – 12 Noon
Part of each of these sessions are about relaxation and the other about mindfulness awareness i.e. colour therapy, sound therapy & basic crystal therapy. Every course is slightly different, so it doesn't matter if you haven't attended one before. Each session is delivered by Tracey one of our qualified Tutors who will show you the benefits in your caring role of making 'time for you.'

Exercise With Ease - Monday 26th January 2026: 10am – 12 Noon
James and Nicola from the St Helens Wellbeing Team will be delivering a session around simple exercise. They will be speaking about the importance of exercise and its benefits for an individual's health and wellbeing. They will demonstrate some very simple exercises that can be continued after this session, at home using household items. There will be time to ask questions and find out about local opportunities.

Our weekly Tea n Toast sessions are for Carers to drop in and have a natter and offload with other Carers. These friendly sessions allow you to make contacts with other Carers and relax for an hour or two, have a cuppa and toast, and a laugh. No need to book, just drop in anytime between 10am and 12 noon.

Quiz Night – Tuesday 27th January 2026: Doors open at 6.30pm Quiz 7pm – 9pm
Quizzers Night with a Hot Dog. Come and join in the fun and the winning team have a chance of opening the box for a prize. Come alone or in a team.

Journalling - Wednesday 28th January, 4th & 11th February 2026: 10.00am - 12 Noon
This is an introductory course for Adults who want to improve their Wellbeing through journalling. These 3 sessions include exploring how journalling, which is a form of recording your individual expression or thoughts can help with your daily Wellbeing. There will be practice tips and starting points in how to create your own personalised individual journal. At the end of the course you will have gained knowledge of the different journal types and practices and how these can help to improve your confidence, resilience and all round wellbeing.

Parent Carer Wellbeing Group - Thursday 29th January 2026: 10am – 12 Noon
Join our monthly Parent Carer Wellbeing Group — a welcoming space for parent carers to connect, share experiences, and access support. Caring for a child with additional needs can be both rewarding and challenging, and this group offers time to meet others who understand your journey.
What’s included: A relaxed space to meet other parent carers; guest speakers on topics that matter to you; information about local services and support; opportunities to create personalised visual supports for your home and time to speak with our Parent Carer Wellbeing Officer.
Whether you want practical advice, emotional support, or simply a friendly chat with people who “get it,” you’re very welcome.

Understanding Neurological & Mental Health Conditions - Friday 30th January 2026: 10am – 1pm
This is for unpaid Carers who support a Merseycare NHS Foundation Trust Service User. This one-off course covers understanding mental health and neurological conditions and aims to provide Carers with an increased knowledge of conditions such as anxiety, autism, dementia, depression, eating disorders, post traumatic distress and others. This will give you the knowledge and help you to understand how to develop strategies to support your caring role.

Future Planning - Carers of Adults with a Learning Disability and/or Autism - Wednesday 4th February 2026: 1pm -2.30pm
If you care for someone over 18 with a Learning Disability and/or Autism, St Helens Council would like your input into how they offer future planning for your cared for.
We recognise that this is a sensitive and often emotional subject for families. Too often, the Council becomes involved only at crisis point, which can significantly limit the options available for the individual. Through these events, we aim to take a proactive approach to planning for the future.
The objectives of the consultation are to:
-Provide carers with an opportunity to share their concerns and challenges around future planning.
-Explore what needs to be in place to support effective and sustainable planning for the future.
-The feedback gathered will help the Council to plan and develop services that meet the needs of people with a learning disability and/or autism, ensuring better outcomes for individuals and their families.
This event will also run on Thursday 5th February 6.30pm-8.00pm

Welfare/Disability Benefits Drop-in Clinic - Thursday 5th February 2026: 10am – 3pm
Do you need a Welfare Benefits check or have any questions about the welfare or disability benefits the person you care for is receiving or may be entitled to? Drop in on one of these special days without an appointment. Alternatively, you can call us on 01744 675 615 to book a telephone appointment at a more convenient time. This clinic is held at our Carers Centre at 31-35 Baldwin Street.

Come and join Kate in this basic meditation practice where you will learn to connect with your true self to access inner peace, relax your body and slow down the mind through simple breath work and guided meditation which helps you to let go of stress and refocus your mind.

Reiki with Jan - Monday 9th February 2026: 10am – 12 Noon
Come along to this Group session and experience what Reiki is, the meaning of how it works and its benefits. Our qualified Tutor Jan will demonstrate how it can balance areas in the body while increasing energy levels. Reiki can also be used as a complimentary therapy.

Memory Loss Carers Support Group - Tuesday 10th February 2026- 1.00pm – 3.00pm
If you care for someone with Dementia, come along and meet with our support worker and other Carers in a similar situation for a relaxed catch up, some information a chat and a cuppa. No need to book.

Young Adult Carer Group - Wednesday 11th February - 5-7pm
The Young Adult Carers Social Group is a relaxed, friendly space for young people who support a family member or friend. It’s a place to unwind, meet others who “get it,” and take a break from the pressures of caring. Whether you’re looking for support, new friends, or just a bit of time for yourself, you’re welcome here. There’s no pressure to share anything personal—just come as you are.

First Aid Friday 13th February 2026: 10.30am – 11.45am
Would you know what to do if someone stopped breathing, had a stroke, or began to choke? Would you know how to use a defibrillator? This short interactive fun workshop shows you what to do in various emergency situations. This course shouldn’t be missed as you could save someone life. The training is delivered by Carmel who is a qualified member of The Red Cross. Comfortable and loose clothing is recommended for this session.

Monochrome Painting Advanced - Tuesday 17th February 2026: 1pm – 3pm
If you have already completed the Monochrome for Beginners, then this session is ideal for you to extend the knowledge gained in the first session to take it that step further so it is advised that you complete the first one before booking on this. You will be guided step by step by one of our talented Carers, Doris, and you will be surprised what you can achieve under her expert guidance.

Wills, Probate & Lasting Power of Attorney - Wednesday 18th February 2026: 10am – 1.30pm
This course is delivered by a qualified member of Staff from St Helens Law. You will learn about matters such as when it is necessary to do a Will, what Probate means and when is the right time to complete a Lasting Power of Attorney. You will get chance to ask questions on the day and a light lunch is provided during this session.

This Group provides support and a social environment for Carers who have ended their caring responsibilities in whatever circumstances. Come along and discuss your Health and Wellbeing with the St Helens Wellbeing Team either in a Group situation or one to one, private and confidentially, you can discuss anything from blood pressure checks to concerns over diabetes, how to eat more healthily or for those who require it advice on exercise. Feeling like a change in diet after Christmas? Want to experiment with vegetables to combat the cost of living?
Then book in to watch Alex who is an award-winning professional chef who will introduce you to vegetarian cookery. The aim of this session is to show you what can be done in the world of vegetarian cookery with food sampling throughout the demonstration and recipes for you to take home.
